How to get sticky label glue off hard surfaces
You have most likely been in the situation where you have removed a label from a hard surface and found that it left an annoying layer of sticky glue. You try to scrape it of with your fingernail or some tool and found that the glue either does not completely disappear or you scratch the surface.
Glue removal process
Simply use an eraser to rub off the sticky glue. I have used this many times and it will remove most sticky glue and some other substances without leaving a trace behind.
Step 1 — remove the paper part of the label as much as possible. Use water if the hard surface AND the object it may be attached too is ok with water, i.e., no books.
Step 2 — rub the glue with enough force to remove it without breaking the surface below.
Step 3 — wash the object if possible to get the last glue off. Alternatively, you may use you fingers to remove the remaining glue.
And the mandatory disclaimer — use this at your own risk.
An example — removing label glue from a glass jar
As an example, I wanted to reuse a glass jar for a sour-dough project. First, I peeled off the label, which left a sticky layer of glue on the glass.
